Window Shopping

Monday, May 7th, 2012

Bliss, in Knoxville, Tennessee, is known for its artful display of inventory throughout the store and in its window displays – which is pretty evident here:  how cute do the Frida Loves Diego and Dahlia dresses look in their window?

When in Knoxville, don’t miss this delightful shopping experience, voted best store in East Tennessee in 2010 and 2011.  An alternative to the standard retail store, Bliss curates a wide variety of gifts, women’s apparel, accessories, and jewelry – all unique pieces that you don’t find everyday.  We’re so honored to be included in their shop!

Spot a Mata – Google Earth Edition

Monday, April 9th, 2012

I was visiting a friend in Santa Cruz recently and thought it would be fun to pop into Wallflower Boutique, a shop that carries us.  So, I googled the shop to see where I was going, clicked on street view, and what did I see?

Two Mata dresses in the window!!!

That’s the Charity dress and the Princess dress from the Spring ‘10 collection.  We only have a few extra larges left at this point, but they’re on sale for $28.

The Charity dress, named after our stylish friend and CPS teacher Charity Atteberry Hamman, is making another appearance this season.  Now called the Sula Dress, this easy number comes in 3 new prints in our Spring ‘12 collection: rust, green, and blue.

.

ps. Wallflower is awesome! Stop in for some seriously good shopping if you’re in Santa Cruz.

Pool is Cool

Monday, March 5th, 2012

Emily and I recently got back from the Pool trade show at Mandalay Bay in Vegas.  Happy to say we made our sales targets (woot!).  We also saw some seriously fresh fashion.  My brain was a buzzin’ with all the trends –  totally ahead of the curve and everyone’s bringing out their true style sense.

Women, women, women!

Friday, October 7th, 2011

Our very own Emily was featured in a local news segment sporting a very chic look from the Andersonville boutique Mr. and Mrs. Digz. She was rocking the Rendezvous skirt from our new fall collection. My absolute favorite part of the broadcast was when they were describing Mata Traders: “It’s owned by women, it’s run by women, handmade by women in India and Nepal, fair trade, so women, women, women.” Nailed it!

You may recognize the lovely Emily from her previous modeling gig right here on our blog, although back then she was styling for two. Fair trade maternity wear never looked so good!

Spot a Mata (online edition)

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

San Francisco fashion blogger Modelina Michelle found us in local boutique Marmalade, and if you’re in the Bay area, you can, too!  Entitled “Sweet Bohemia,” Michelle’s post features the Edgewater dress, Lakeshore dress, Skylark skirt, and Symphony skirt from our new Spring line.  She notes Mata’s bright colors, bold patterns, and laid back bohemian vibe, but she’s just as impressed with the line’s social impact – empowering Indian women.  She asks, “How often can you buy a dress for yourself and help empower other women at the same time?”  Thanks for the shout out, Michelle!

If you’re not in the Bay area, visit our store locator to find a shop near you that carries our line.  Of course, you can always shop at matatraders.com, but we are sold out of the Edgewater dress here at the warehouse.  If that dress is a must-have for you (and it is totally understandable if that is the case), get in touch with us and we’ll help you find it at one of our retail partners, such as Marmalade.
