In the Garden

Hello, everyone!  Here I am guest blogging for Mata!  I have always been a fan of this brand, and have a sizable Mata collection in my closet.  I am such a blog junkie, so it’s neat to be writing instead of reading.  I hope you enjoy, and comments are welcome!  Here we go:

This weekend I got a chance to go to one of my favorite places in St. Louis, the Botanical Gardens.  They are pretty and peaceful.  Every time I go here I try to wear something bright to fit in with all of the surroundings.  I had a really bad sunburn (accidentally!) that I didn’t particularly want to show off, so I opted for the softest cotton top I own.  It is a simple white button-down and I chose floral print shorts to get some color going on.  I am a bit of a color-phobe so I kept my accessories neutral.

I wish this was my backyard.  In the background you see the Climatron, which is where the exotic plants are grown.  Believe it or not, it was hotter outside the Climatron on this day.  So hot, in fact, that I was forced to do this:

…which I did not mind at all – I love knotting my shirt tails!  When tied tight your shirt turns into more of a crop top.  I usually do crop tops with things high-waisted, like Mata’s Symphony Skirt.  Such a cool look for summer.  I’ve been knotting things left and right.  Knot a t-shirt to the side (like you did in the 90s!), knot up the front of a cotton maxi-dress.  It’s a quick way to change a look, and get multiple looks out of one piece.

Don’t you love when you find a shoe in that perfect color that magically goes with everything?  I call the color of these shoes taupe.  They kind of remind me of the Isabel Marant boots everyone is wearing, only much more affordable.  These mini wedges are go-to’s when I’ll be on my feet for the day and still want height.

All in all, it was a relaxing weekend that was desperately needed.  Did you guys have a good weekend?  I got my dad a coffee grinder for Father’s Day.  He promptly made a pot (with fair trade beans!) which was enjoyed out of my oldest favorite mug…

Until next time!
