Mata's Holiday Wishlist

It's the most wonderful time of the year! At Mata, we simply adore the season of gift giving... and getting ; ) As a fair trade fashion brand, we strive to support other companies that are making this world a better, brighter place. While we make efforts to support these awesome brands, it makes us feel oh-so-jolly when our loved ones do, too (hint, hint)! Keep reading to find out what we Mata staff have on our holiday wishlists! 

Maya, Wholesale Administration & Retail Specialist

Maya is the queen of mixing prints into her everyday style. For the holidays, she's been wishing for the Moroccan Berber Kilim Handbag, which was handmade using repurposed kilim rug pieces that were originally woven by the Berber people of Morocco. Designed in Chicago by MAYTA Collection - an ethical fashion label - and handcrafted in Marrakesh, the soft sheep wool has been hand-washed and dyed with fun accents of green, pink, yellow, white and black.

Avani, Production Manager

Avani celebrates Diwali with family, food, and the exchange of gifts and sweets. On her wishlist is the Horn Square Signet Ring by Soko, which is made of recycled brass and ethically sourced horn. The artisan entrepreneurs that Soko works with in Kenya use traditional techniques to craft this sculptural statement piece that's perfect for every day.

Laken, Sales & Marketing Intern

When we want to know what's trendy, we turn to our intern Laken. She can rock any of-the-moment style. For the holidays, she's wishing for the Jenny Jumpsuit by Reformation, which features an exposed center front zipper, a fitted bodice, and a slightly wide leg. Besides designing chic fashion, Reformation uses sustainable materials, deadstock fabrics as well as repurposes vintage clothing. 

April, Sales Manager

It's so fitting that April has a candle on her wishlist - her bubbly personality lights up a room! April's wishing for the the Whitebark Pine by Bright Endeavors, a Chicago-based social enterprise that provides paid job training to young moms. This life transforming program provides guidance and training, which will help these young women secure quality employment and professional success. The seasonal scent features notes of pine, sea salt, and evergreen. Plus, the beautiful candle holder can be turned into a cocktail glass or a festive plant holder.

Kayla, Retail Associate

Kayla has a knack for mixing vintage finds with chicly comfortable pieces. On her wishlist, Kayla has the Teton Tunic by CP SHADES, a brand that produces and dyes its entire collection in Northern California. The Teton Tunic is made with 100% linen twill and is hand-dyed. Plus, it has pockets!

Maria, Inventory Manager

Founder of Fat and the Moon, Rachel Budde works with plants that are abundant, ethically harvested, and organically cultivated to craft skincare formulas that are non-toxic. Plus, the company uses reusable, recyclable containers to minimize superfluous packaging. Maria has been coveting the Moon Fat Bod Oil, which is made with apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil, and rosehip seed oil. The formula also has Clary Sage essential oil, which has a delightful grassy muskiness.

Natalie, Customer Service Manager

One can never have too many booties, right? Especially, here in Chicago. Natalie's has her eyes on MATT & NAT's Fran, a timeless Chelsea boot with high block, glossy heels. MATT & NAT designs their animal-free, environmentally-conscious products in Montreal, Quebec.
